Art Program: Mechan X
Mechan X is the next version in the line of ancient robots. Like Mechan 9, X is hundreds of years old, covered in rust, and shrouded in mystery. Just as easily climbable, this robot is in far worse shape than the last one. Missing everything from the waist down, X also has a large blow-out in its side. This hole will allow anyone (will be ADA accessible) to enter the body cavity and see the inner workings. All around the inside will be levers, buttons, and gears, as well as lots of the same strange text that is found all over Mechan 9. This means more decoding and more mystery solving which was a huge hit in the past. It will also be illuminated in various yet subtle ways. As the robot isn’t built yet, the exact size and arm layout can be adjusted to fit a particular space.
The inside will look like this was once a control room for this giant robot. Disorienting as it will all be sideways, the interior will feature lots of things to touch, open, and read in order to solve the mystery of why the robot is destroyed (spoiler alert: it doesn’t end well.) The plan is to also make the head an explorable space that is enterable through the neck or through the broken eye or mouth.
(Note: The body section is not to scale.)
